I’m pleased to announce that my newest historical novel, Legacy of Willie, will soon be published.
The novel is the third book in the Montgomery Chronicles and continues the story begun in Legacy of Honor and Legacy of the Lazy M. Although familiar characters return—including Angie, Joe Bob, Jack Thornton, and the Montgomery family—this story belongs primarily to Willie Newman.
Years after gaining his freedom, Willie has built a new life at the Lazy M Ranch. He has earned the respect of those around him and found a family among people who value his loyalty, courage, and quiet wisdom. Yet one part of his past has never released its hold on him.
Before the Civil War, Willie’s wife and children were sold away. He has searched for them ever since, following uncertain leads and refusing to abandon hope. When new information finally offers the possibility of finding them, Willie must confront old enemies, painful truths, and the question that has haunted him for years: What became of the family he lost?
Legacy of Willie is a story of perseverance, family, justice, and the lasting wounds left by slavery and war. It also returns readers to the Lazy M at a time when Angie and Joe Bob must defend the ranch and the people they love from dangers both old and new.
Thank you to everyone who has followed these characters through the Montgomery Chronicles. I hope you will join Willie for the next—and perhaps most personal—chapter of their story.
